In an interview with Shana, the managing director of manufacturing support and goods procurement of the Tehran Oil Company stated: The plan totransform the island of Kish into an international center of oil and gas has been proposed since the former Ministry of Zangane (the Minister of Oil). Now this plan is in the process of its realization.
Ezzatollah Akabri said it is necessary that international banks and insurance offices start their branches in the island of Kish. At the same time he emphasized the necessity of a more intensive presence of domestic banks and insurance companies in this island. "In order for Kish to become an international business center for gas and oil, the infrastructure conditions must be improved", said Akbari. He continued: "The technological and industrial design offices, international law offices and all that is needed to enhance the gas and oil diplomacy will be set up in the island of Kish".
Despite Iran's first rank in the total amount of gas and oil resources in the world, Akbari stated that the oil and gas diplomacy is being led by other countries. Therefore, Iran must attempt to have a better global position.
The managing director of manufacturing support and goods procurement of the Tehran Oil Company continued: "Kish has plenty of capacities to attract investors. By building suitable infrastructure the capacities of this island can be properly exploited".
