Two heads

Although there is a tendency among people to appreciate their heroes and follow an individualistic approach in their encounter with problems, no one can yet deny the significance of team work and consultation. A simple glance at the history of Iranian mythology reveals the fact that heroes were the ones who could offer the solutions to both individual and social problems. We admired them and, in cases of melancholy, waited for one to push us out of misery. There is a dark side to this view, however. Either because everybody may want to play the hero themselves, or because they have lost confidence in their heroes, it may become hard to try to encourage people to cooperate. The current government showed a positive image when it extended a help seeking hand towards economists to demand their contribution in dealing with the existing problems, mainly with regard to stagflation. Provided that the government is serious in its intention, it should keep in mind that such contribution cannot be achieved via a single sitting. It requires a committee of economic experts to gather and elect a leader. Then during a specified period of time, the committee should be assigned to arrive at a consensus on how to tackle the economic issues. They should present their solution both theoretically and practically and be prepared to defend them. Moreover, the recent meeting should not be the only one and something which never repeats. Otherwise it will imply that the government has already made its mind on some plans and merely needs to legitimise them by holding meetings with the economists. No one doubts that consultation pays and two heads are better than one.
